Black Student Schools White Teacher On Racism, White Privilege
By |
You know things are very tense in America right now and since school is supposed to be a learning environment many of the things taking place in the country right now known as RACISM in full bloom are being discussed in the schools- which I think is a good thing.
A young lady schooled her teacher on racism and white privilege by calling him close minded for wanting to preserve “American culture” and not want the country to become a Latin country.
She went on to tell her teacher: I’m sorry this is the way it is. It is f***ed up. But white people control everything. And that’s not fair. And when anybody, any other minority, tries to say anything about it or change it, we’re complaining or we’re ungrateful.
PREACH!
Watch the video hereHere
What I am proud of this young lady for?
- Speaking so eloquently, and being clear and concise.
- Standing in her truth and what she knows is right(And what we know is right too).
- Not being afraid to check her teacher.
What I am proud of this teacher for?
- Letting her speak.
You know so many teachers nowadays have been caught on camera calling their Black students ni**ers and verbally or even physically punishing them. I like that this teacher allowed her to say her peace and accepted open dialogue with her. Now should he be teaching kids of color? Probably NOT since he- according to the student said he did not want America to become a Latin country, but you know what he may need to be in that class so he can have his White Privilege checked at the door, you know what I am saying?
This video made my day because this is what school is supposed to be about. Teachers are supposed to learn from their students just as much as the students are supposed to learn from their teachers. That is the way school is supposed to be- constant questioning and debating what is truth and what isn’t and constant growth from these healthy debates and from these varying opinions. I love it!
